Tony Rice's Church Street Blues with TAB
When I think of crosspicking, nothing comes to mind quicker than Church Street Blues. I could have probably done that a hundred more times times and found something in each one that I wasn't happy with because there's so much going on with the volume of each string, getting it even and of course Tony does that all masterfully.
If you're new to crosspicking here's a few tips.. just generally how I think of it and how I approach it. Basically you're carrying on the sweep of the pick until you reach the end of the road- so when you reach the last string of a of a run you'll switch to an upstroke just to get you back down in position.

So you're doing a lot of almost what they'd call sweep picking. So it's really more an a more efficient way to pick than having to alternate up and down strokes every time. A lot of times you're be sweeping across strings as your hammering on- that's part of the reason he gets it sounding as fast as he does.
In the download there's a link to a interactive type of tab, a TEF file where you can slow this down to any speed. It's helpful if you're having trouble with rhythms and really want to practice it slow. Of course you can just print out the the PDF as well but it's nice to have an idea of where the tempo is coming along. Download them both along with a practice track and the link above.
